This is part two of a two-part adventure with Pamela Jayne Morgan. Morgan is a Fall River native and grew up near the former Dubuque Elementary School. Two weeks ago, I explored some of the theaters in the SouthCoast where Morgan performed in some starring roles.
This week, Morgan showed me around her old neighborhood and highlighted some of her favorite spots she visited while growing up in the area.
Locust Street (Fall River)
We started our adventure where it all began for Morgan – the street behind her old house in Fall River. “It s a wonderful city, I had a wonderful childhood right up to my early 20s, when I did move out of there,” Morgan said.
In honor of Pi Day, I decided to try some pies in Fall River and New Bedford. Yes, I know that Pi Day is honoring the 3.14 kind of mathematical pi and not actual melt-in-your-mouth flavorful pies… but, who turns down an excuse to eat pie? Besides, I missed National Pie Day on Jan. 23. So, put away those calculators and take out a fork as we eat our way through the SouthCoast.
…and when I say “eat our way through the SouthCoast,” it was more like “pickup” through the SouthCoast for COVID-19 safety reasons. So, instead, I picked up the pies and baked them later that night to try with my parents.

It was also my first time driving through some of these gorgeous towns that I’ll soon be writing about as the new special projects reporter for The Standard-Times.
Granite, I am originally from Rhode Island, I will admit that I don’t know much about the SouthCoast area. But after only my first week here, I’ve already discovered some
