Heavy rain in Gurugram caused severe traffic congestion and waterlogging in several areas, including stretches of the National Highway. Commuters were advised not to leave their houses unless necessary. Despite timely action by civic agencies, traffic jams occurred at Hero Honda Chowk and Subhash Chowk. The India Meteorological Department predicts rain in the city until Tuesday, with a partly overcast sky on Thursday and Friday.
The elevated road is being built to reduce the heavy traffic on the Delhi-Gurugram stretch. Only Light vehicles will be allowed to ply on it, said Union Minister for State Rao Inderjit Singh
The expressway will connect Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram, provide alternate access to the IGI airport, India International Convention Centre and other key locations in Gurugram.
