It happened next to childrens ferry land in oakland along the shores of lake merritt. Abc news alan wang is there to explain what happened. This is the long portion of the tree that snapped killing the boy around 6 00 that evening. It appears the tree had been weakened because the top of it either broke off or died some time in the past.
