The Women’s Club of Milton Environmental Committee is collecting new and gently used bras for Free the Girls, an international nonprofit devoted to assisting sex-trafficking survivors with a path to true freedom.
The donations give economic opportunity for these women to start their own businesses by selling bras in their local secondhand clothing markets while they recover and rebuild their lives. The organization currently works in El Salvador, Mozambique and Costa Rica.
Traffic on a narrow lane stretching through farmland has divided neighbors in rural Mount Joy Township, where, as a result, officials have been asked to revoke a permit that allows guests to visit a local animal sanctuary.
If granted, the revocation would threaten ongoing work at Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization based on 18 acres along Milton Grove Road, the sanctuaryâs executive director, Sarah Salluzzo, said.
Salluzzo said sheâs hoping to âamicably resolveâ issues stemming from the use of a shared driveway lane.
âIt would deeply affect our operations to have our permit revoked,â Salluzzo said.
But, according to Cindi and Ed Hughes, overuse of the shared driveway has already hurt their neighboring operation, a small-scale vegetable farm and educational center called Heritage Creek Farm Camp.
