Within hours of Hereworth School announcing it would like to let girls in, parents were ringing up to get their daughters on to a wait list. Hawke s Bay s last fully private school on Monday announced plans to become state-integrated and allow girls on to the school roll.

Blank, by the award-winning Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour, is the latest offering from Napier Repertory Players, based at The Little Theatre in Napier.
Napier Repertory are delighted to be able to present yet another New Zealand premiere of Soleimanpour s experimental theatre following last year s White Rabbit Red Rabbit.
As with White Rabbit Red Rabbit, a new performer is on stage on each of the four nights. There has been no rehearsal, there is no director, and the performer has never seen the script they are about to be handed.

Hereworth School in Havelock North is applying to the Ministry of Education to become an integrated co-educational school. Jonathan Hensman, the chairman of the Hereworth School Trust Board, said the application is a really positive next step for the future of the school after 100 years as an independent school for boys. Our goal is to make Hereworth even better and stronger for the next 100 years. We are confident that our school has a bright future and can thrive as an integrated, co-educational school, just as others have done, he said.

OPINION: One of my ancestors has died.
I read the obituary on a new signpost at one of the entrances to a Hawke s Bay tourist trail.
The tupuna was Rongokako, and he was the first-born of our family line in Aotearoa some 18 generations ago.
