Queen Elizabeth II participated in her first public engagement on Tuesday since the funeral of her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip. Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, died at the age of 99 and was laid to rest at St. George s Chapel at Windsor Castle earlier this month.
On Tuesday, the queen joined a video call with foreign diplomats her first public appearance after the two-week national mourning period following her husband s death.
Photos taken from Buckingham Palace show the queen, who turned 95 last week, smiling as she held virtual audiences with Ivita Burmistre, the ambassador for Latvia, and Sara Affoue Amani, the ambassador for the Ivory Coast.
The monarch, 95, wore Cartier brooch for the meeting, which was given to her by the Nizam of Hyderabad on the occasion of her marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947.

There were no signs of mourning dress as Her Majesty appeared in a spring-ready blue floral dress, three-tier pearl necklace and diamond brooch, holding a virtual meeting with Her Excellency Ivita Burmistre, the Ambassador of Latvia, followed by Her Excellency Sara Affoue Amani, the Ambassador of Cote d Ivoire, who were both received via a video call from Buckingham Palace.

This comes 10 days after the funeral of Prince Philip, who died peacefully at the age of 99 on April 9. And while it is the first time the Queen is seen in photos engaging in royal duties since the Duke of Edinburgh s funeral, it is not the first time she has resumed work since his demise.
Just four days after the death of her husband, the Queen attended a retirement ceremony for the former Lord Chamberlain Earl Peel. In her second official engagement since Prince Philip s passing, she welcomed the new Lord Chamberlain, former MI5 head Baron Parker, to his post.
