Family, animals safe in early morning Cascade Township fire | News, Sports, Jobs

Firefighters successfully suppressed a working structure fire in Cascade Township in the early hours Wednesday. Both homeowners of the Rose Valley Road property, their dog and six goats were unharmed by the fire. The fire only affected a garage separated from the other buildings on the property, the woman said. “Everybody with a heartbeat is okay. That’s what we are taking away from it,” the homeowner, who is six months pregnant, said. The owner said she woke up to her dog barking at around 4:20 a.m., and saw a glow from her backyard. The home did not have phone service, so the owner drove to a neighbor’s house and woke them up to call 911, the owner said.
