PETALING JAYA: Two localities in the country – one in Kelantan and another in Sarawak – will be placed under the enhanced movement control order from April 16 to 29.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said SM Ugama (Arab) Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung in Tumpat, Kelantan, had detected 50 positive Covid-19 cases out of 113 tests conducted.
He said the cases were spread among the residents in the school and the infectivity rate in the locality was high. The enhanced MCO is to enable the Health Ministry to control the movement of residents and to avoid the spread of Covid-19 to communities outside the school, he said in a statement on Thursday (April 15).

KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s directive on working from home (WFH) remains in force for now, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister (Security) said that no announcements have been made by the International Trade and Industry Ministry or the Public Service Department director-general on changes to the WFH directive.
“We will discuss the matter further during our meetings to decide if the WFH order still stands, ” he said at his daily press meet yesterday.
Ismail Sabri said the government was also considering allowing interstate travel, but this would depend on the Covid-19 zone designation of the areas where the journey starts and ends.
MELAKA (Bernama): The recruitment process of new trainees into Henry Gurney School in Telok Mas from all over the country may be the cause of a rise in Covid-19 cases at the centre.
State Health and Anti-Drug Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said poor compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) was a possible contributor to the sharp increase of cases. We are monitoring the situation to identify what had happened. I also proposed that during the enhanced movement control order, the entry of new recruits should stop for the time being while existing trainees should not be allowed to go out to contain the infection, ” he said when contacted by Bernama Friday (March 5).
