BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â According to the CDC as of Monday, nearly 121 million Americans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 74 million are fully vaccinated, but this comes as some people go through some negative side effects from the vaccine.
Several states across the country chose to temporarily shut down Johnson and Johnson sites after receiving complaints of negative reactions shortly after patients were administered the one-shot vaccine.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â Kern County is inching closer to the red tier, meeting two out of the three needed state metrics. The county meets the red tier metrics for the positivity rate of COVID-19 tests and the health equity metric, but fell short of meeting the needed case rate.
In order to move into the red tier, Kern County needs to have a daily case rate below 7 new cases a day per 100,000 residents. As of Tuesday, Kern County s positivity rate is 11.1 new cases a day per 100,000 with an adjusted case rate of 11.8.
Houchin Community Blood Bank is asking community for blood and plasma donations

BAKERSFIELD, Calif â With many COVID cases in Kern County, blood banks are asking for help from the community to either donate blood or plasma to help patients who are hospitalized from the virus.
âWith the increase in COVID cases and with the holidays and everything going on, the need for donations is, and that goes for all types of donations, are needed.â
Rachel Parlier, marketing manager at Houchin Community Blood Bank, said.
Parlier said that as of Saturday, blood and plasma supplies are at a low.
