Life has returned to normal after a few days off that most people had on Christmas and New Year’s. The fisheries are again brimming with life and ships are on the horizon on their way to the fishing grounds.
Erla Ásmundsdóttir made her long-held dream of going to sea come true last year and now works as a chef at the trawler Helga María RE-1, owned by Brim. She says the experience of seafaring so far is a total adventure, but reminds me that it’s important to make it special at sea and therefore always keeps a “fancy Friday” on board, as stated in a 200-mile paper of Morgunblaðið.
