HELENA â The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Helena Branch is celebrating 100 years of operation on Monday February 1. Helena is the only branch location of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
The Helena branch opened in 1921 thanks to the lobbying efforts of Dr. Norman B. Holter and other local businessmen.
The first building was destroyed during the 1935 earthquake. The new building was completed in 1938 on Park Ave. by the current Grandstreet Theatre.

According to a press release from the Minneapolis Fed:
Helena Branch directors contribute regional perspectives on economic conditions as part of the Federal Reserve’s monitoring of the national economy and the formulation of monetary policy. In addition, the Branch’s board of directors serves in an advisory capacity to the management of the Helena Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
In addition to being a well-known Montana banker, Coffee was inducted into the Montana Business Hall of Fame. His role with the Minneapolis Fed is to bring regional insight to the table when it comes to our economy and our nation s monetary policy.

HELENA â At the age of 12, Caleb Madsen is building and taking on a leadership role in the Troop 212 Boy Scouts for his Eagle project. He admits doing this at the age of 12 is younger than average, but felt it was great timing.
âOnce you get older, you start to lose interest in scouting,â says Caleb Madsen, Troop 212 Life Scout. âSo, I thought I might as well get my Eagle scout done fast, while I still have interest.
His interest in this project is that it will give community members more access to books. Caleb and the Boy Scouts are building Little Free Libraries for Lewis & Clark County. The county library says they have over 20 of these libraries in the Helena Valley, but these sheds will have a home in rural communities to help the county in the pandemic.
