HELENA â The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Helena Branch is celebrating 100 years of operation on Monday February 1. Helena is the only branch location of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
The Helena branch opened in 1921 thanks to the lobbying efforts of Dr. Norman B. Holter and other local businessmen.
The first building was destroyed during the 1935 earthquake. The new building was completed in 1938 on Park Ave. by the current Grandstreet Theatre.

Employees moved into the current home of the branch on Neill Ave. in 1990.
The Helena branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis celebrates its 100-year anniversary Monday, and bank leadership and employees say their community involvement and advocacy work will make the next century just as successful. Â
The branch s original single-story building on the corner of Park Avenue and Edwards Street went up in 1910 and housed the Helena Automatic Telephone Company and Foidel Undertaking Company before becoming the Federal Reserve Branch Bank in 1921, at which point a second story was added, according to Helena history website Helena as She Was (www.helenahistory.org).Â
This building at the corner of Edwards Street and Park Avenue housed the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis when it opened in Helena in 1921.
