Epping Forest s condolences following death of Prince Philip

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away aged 99 at Windsor Castle on Friday morning. Books of Condolences have been opened at Buckhurst Hill Library and North Weald Village Hall. After the period set by protocol, the books will be closed, and a copy will be printed and retained for historic purposes, with a copy passed to the Essex Records Office. Cllr Helen Kane, chairman of Epping Forest District Council has also written on behalf of the Epping Forest district to the Private Secretary to the Duke of Edinburgh to express condolences to Her Majesty and other members of the Royal Family.

Glasgow backs calls for theory certificate extension due to coronavirus pandemic

GLASGOW Times readers have reacted to calls for an extension to theory test certificates amid the coronavirus pandemic. Today we reported that Kirsty McLaughlan, from Kinning Park, is appealing for more time time on her theory after not being given the opportunity to pass a practical test in more than a year. We asked our readers if they think the theory certificate should be extended. Hundreds of people shared their thoughts. Jodie Dow said: 100 per cent they should be extended! Not our fault we couldn t get out and take our test. Megan Andrew added: There should definitely be an extension! It s not our fault lives got put on hold for over a year.

March 2, 2021 The idea for the style of the cartoon character known as Betty Boop came from the presentation of a Black jazz singer in the late 1920’s named Esther Jones. Her stage name was Baby Esther, which matched her baby voice singing style. In 1930, Max Fleischer Studios released the character Betty Boop. The interesting part found in this story is that Ms. Jones’ style and technique was stolen more than once. The creators of Betty Boop were later sued for $250,000 by another popular singer and actress named Helen Kane, who performed with a very similar presentation as the cartoon character Betty Boop. She claimed to have invented the ‘boop-boop-a-doop’.
