The California citrus season continues to move along at a steady pace, though some recent rains have slowed down the harvest a bit. Jesse Silva of Kings River Packing shares: âThe past months the weather has been really dry, so we saw really excellent picking conditions. In the last two weeks, however, there has been more fog and some rain. The fruit needs to be picked dry, so we have to plan out our picking moments a bit more when the weather is like this, but we donât mind it because it allows us to plan our harvest well and pick according to the demand. So, the rain is definitely welcome because it helps to refill the aquafers and the snow will bring good runoff from the mountains in the spring.â

Los Angeles-based grower/packer/shipper Progressive Produce will see an expanded organic Heirloom Navel orange program towards the end of the year and into the first quarter of 2021. Sold under the recently refreshed Nature s Bounty Organic label, the company s perfectly sweet and locally grown organic Heirloom Navels will be available from late December until March. Product can be packed in three-pound bags with bulk sizes also available.
Speaking of Nature s Bounty Organic, Director of Marketing and Sales Oscar Guzman said, We updated the label and brand with a sleek, simplistic design and bright, bold colors to catch consumers attention from a distance. Packaging for lemons, grapefruit, Valencia and Navel oranges and Heirloom Navel oranges will feature the new design.
