Lillian (Lakadia) Polasik
Lillian (Lakadia) Polasik, 98, of Dunkirk, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Dunkirk on Nov. 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Stephen (Sczepan) and Antoinette (Antonia Krylowicz) Przytula.
Lillian initially worked for the Van Raalte Co. and subsequently as a cafeteria and housekeeping employee for the Dunkirk Public School System prior to her retirement. During her later employment tenure, she established memorable and lasting friendships with much of the student body to whom she was known as “Aunt Lodzia,” an adopted moniker of endearment by which her close family always referred to her.
The Indiana Department of Health has canceled a COVID-19 vaccination âpop-upâ clinic it had planned for Saturday and Sunday at Ivy Tech Community College South Bend.
Dr. Mark Fox, St. Joseph Countyâs deputy health officer, said Friday morning that the state agency called him at 9 p.m. Wednesday with the news, but its spokeswoman, Megan Wade-Taxter, told The Tribune late Thursday afternoon that registration was not available because âdetails and dates are still being finalized.â
The Tribune contacted her because it was receiving a growing number of calls from people saying they had been unable to find the pop-up clinic on the IDH’s ourshot.in.gov vaccine registration website.
