SRINAGAR, Aug 4: No traffic was allowed on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Wednesday in view of weekly maintenance of the road.
However, historic 86-km-long Mughal road, seen as alternative to Srinagar-Jammu highway was open for traffic.
No vehicle was allowed to ply from Srinagar or Jammu today to allow National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to undertake weekly maintenance of the road.
Following frequent closure of the highway due to landslides and shooting stones during winter month, the Union Territory (UT) administration decided to suspend traffic on every Wednesday to allow NHAI to undertake repair and maintenance work.
