Michigan State Police identify woman who died in Calhoun County Jail
A 32-year-old Battle Creek woman was identified as the person who died in the Calhoun County Jail. Michigan State Police said corrections officers and medical staff found Heather Burrett unresponsive in her cell June 16, 2021. Burrett was pronounced dead after attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.
Police said Burrett died around 24 hours after she was booked into the Calhoun County Jail.
Burrett had her bond revoked June 15 and she was jailed after testing positive for drugs and alcohol during an offender screening, according to court records.
