LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - After a winless start to the season, the Cowgirls started off the new year on a good note, with a 59-45 victory over Central Arkansas.
“I thought we did a tremendous job on both sides offensively and defensively” said head coach Kacie Cryer. “We held them to 15 in the first half and then on offense we were very patient took good shots and knocked down open ones we didn’t force very many.”

LAKE CHARLES – A.J. Lawson scored 24 points while Carlos Rosario added 19, Collin Warren 15 and Dru Kuxhausen 11 as the McNeese Cowboys closed out pre-conference action on Wednesday night with a 91-76 win over Champion Christian.
The win improved the Cowboys’ record to 6-3 overall and 6-0 at home in Burton Coliseum. McNeese will open up Southland Conference play on Saturday against Central Arkansas in Burton Coliseum at 4 p.m. and will follow a 1 o’clock contest between the two women’s teams.

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese returned to the hardwood following a 10-day break from its last game and responded by having six players score in double-figures, led by a career-high mark of 16 points by Jeremy Harrell as the Cowboys ran away with a 94-36 win over Champion Christian on Tuesday night.
The two teams will meet up again on Wednesday night at 6:30 in Burton Coliseum in the final game before Southland Conference play gets started on Saturday at home against Central Arkansas.

LAKE CHARLES – Twenty-four hours after beating Arlington Baptist 110-64 on Monday night, the McNeese Cowboys scored more while giving up less in a 114-50 victory over the Patriots on Tuesday night in Burton Coliseum.
The win was the third straight for the Cowboys as they improve to 4-2 on the season. They’ll wrap up pre-Christmas play on Saturday with a visit to Louisiana-Lafayette for a 7 p.m. tip.
“I was really happy with our energy level,” said head coach Heath Schroyer. “We did a great job in preparation, and just emotionally after you have a win in a pretty convincing fashion the first night and be able to come back and not go through the motions and do it again, I was really happy with our guys. We showed a level of maturity that I was hoping to see.�

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Six McNeese players scored in double-figures, led by KeyShawn Feazellâs 16 points and 17 rebounds, and the Cowboys rolled to a 110-64 win over Arlington Baptist in the first of two games against the Patriots in two games.
The teams will play again at 6:30 on Tuesday night before McNeese heads to Lafayette to face ULL on Saturday at 7 in a game that was scheduled on Monday. The Cowboysâ December 18 game at Austin Peay has been canceled due to travel restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
