According to the weather agency Skymet, the severe cyclone Biporjoy will turn into an extremely severe cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours. It will continue to move in the north direction for some time and then take a turn in the north-northwest direction.
This year has been unique and very rare wherein the entire country has seen the maximum temperatures below the 40-degree mark for the fourth consecutive day. This situation is a very rare occurrence when the maximum temperature is below 40 degrees, especially during the time when usually most parts begin to sear.
Active pre-monsoon conditions will continue for the next 10 days over many parts of the country. It is likely to ease out after one week from central and eastern parts, to start with.
However, there is a downside to these rains as late-sown crops are being harvested during late April and early May. This rain activity may hamper the harvesting of these crops.
