The former Kmart property at Summerdale Plaza in East Pennsboro Township will be redeveloped into a Tractor Supply store and an AutoZone.

Plans are moving forward for casinos, stores and other business.
Penn National says that casinos in York and Berks counties are expected to be completed by the end of the year. The owners of Park Casino still have their eyes on the Shippensburg area and are moving forward with plans to build the casino on the sight of a former Lowes store.

A shopping center in Harrisburg is about to welcome a number of new tenants.
The new tenants at the Kline Plaza shopping center near the John Harris Campus of Harrisburg High School at 101 S. 25th St. will include two restaurants, a salon, an insurance company and a laundromat.
Rapid Sandwiches & More, which operates a food truck is opening a 1,600-square foot brick and mortar location at the shopping center in space 49 near State Rep. Patty Kim’s district office.
A new restaurant, Crisp Café will open a 1,060-square-foot location in one of the spaces between Rapid Sandwiches & More and State Rep. Patty Kim’s district office.
Vacant spaces on the East Shore: More than 100 empty stores including a number of former big box retailers

While the West Shore has a number of empty retail spaces, the East Shore area surrounding Harrisburg seems to have many more.
Bon-Ton, HHGregg, A.C. Moore and Wolf Furniture have all closed for good in recent years, leaving behind large, vacant stores on the East shore, some of which have been empty for years. Other retailers like Macy’s have closed stores as they try to focus on more profitable regions.
And the empty spaces didn’t just pop up yesterday as the “retail apocalypse” has been going on for years. But last year’s shutdowns, capacity restrictions and a decrease in foot traffic related to COVID-19 have left numerous retailers closing their doors.
