holiday wishes come true. this is nbc nightly news with kate snow. good evening. with a lot of americans getting a jump start on the holidays and traveling this week, we have a potentially dangerous storm on the move. water so high that cars and even a fedex uck g stuck. florida is drying out today after the same system dumped as much as seven inches of rain there. some roads there were completely flooded. all total today 56 million americans are under flood alerts. by the end of this weekend washout, the storm will have soaked every state from florida all the way to maine. we will get to the forecast in just a moment. but we begin tonight with george solis. reporter: tonight a storm is already packing quite a punch. charleston, south carolina, in the bull s eye today. fierce winds and torrential rain with high tide flooding neighborhoods. some cars were able to make it through the high water. and the fire department was patrolling streets helping to rescue people fro
