Raising the issue of Adequate Police staffing for several years. In june of 2018, the budget and legislative analysts provided this board with a performance audit of the San Francisco Police Department so we could better understand, number one, how the police are deploying police staff that is funded by the general fund and number two, how uniform staff is allocated to administrative versus patrol duties. But there is new research that shows that another aspect of modern living is detrimental which is loneliness. Although it doesnt affect seniors only, it does affect them because of a loss of a partner or friend, because of more people being childless. The effect is so great that it is more dangerous to our health than obesity. Loneliness is the same as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. While i dont suggest restoring these classes will cure the issue of loneliness in our city, it is something that should be considered in addition to the benefits of lifelong learning.
