Ljubljana – Four centre-left opposition parties have tabled a motion asking the National Assembly to impeach Prime Minister Janez JanÅ¡a before the Constitutional Court, accusing him of violating several articles of the constitution and laws, pertaining to healthcare, media, prosecution and human and constitutional rights. JanÅ¡a called the move pathetic.
In their motion, the Marjan Å arec List (LMÅ ), Social Democrats (SD), the Left and the Alenka BratuÅ¡ek Party (SAB), accuse the government of having seized all the powers to manage the Covid-19 epidemic and of failing to order Slovenia’s share of Covid-19 vaccines in full. They also allege pressure on the media and prosecution.

Ljubljana – The Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices has decided to carry out an extraordinary inspection of the suitability of the rapid antigen tests the Health Ministry purchased in December from the company Majbert Pharm. The decision comes after suspicion has been raised in the public about the reliability of these tests.
“As this is a large-scale activity that may be connected with risks, we have – as is required by law – decided to carry out inspection … to examine the compliance of the supplied medical device with legislative requirements,” the agency said on Wednesday.
It added that the scope and duration of inspection could not be estimated at the moment, as this would depend on the findings made during the inspection.

Ljubljana – Health Minister Tomaž Gantar resigned on Friday after his Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) decided to leave the coalition. The National Assembly took note of his resignation in the afternoon and Prime Minister Janez Janša is stepping in as interim health minister.
“I’ve always tried to do my job conscientiously, with all due responsibility and commitment. I believe we did important work together,” Gantar said in his letter of resignation.
After DeSUS quit the coalition yesterday, party leader Karl Erjavec initially said it would be up to Janša to decide what to do with both DeSUS ministers, Gantar and Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek.
