Our newsroom. Surveillance showing a man police say. Is very dangerous and they want to get off the streets after he killed a dog in cold blood and tried to do the same to two people. We spoke with police a short time ago. They tell us he broke into a house on Eastern Avenue back in december. While there, investigators say he didnt want any witnesses. So he shot a young man in the leg. Then, turned the gun on that victims mother, shooting her twice. Then he killed the family dog. After that. Cops say he pointed his semiautomatic hand gun at point blank range in the face of the antoher man, but by that time he was out of rounds. Based on his actions and the things he did it leaves no doubt in my mind that one of the things he wanted to do was that he didnt want to leave any identifying victim. Bring a weapon to campus before the day began. Once the student got to school, they were able to search, locate the weapon and then detain the student. He was then taken into custody by the police. Once again, its important to note, that the student didnt have the capability to load the weapon, but dr. Gausman says that doesnt change the severity of the issue. We will follow all of the necessary steps, procedures and protocols to make certain that we do all that is necessary to keep our students and Staff Members safe, said Sioux City Community schools superintendent, dr. Paul gausman. Now, speaking of those procedures and protocols, its important to note that student cant return to school until this case is fully resolved.
