president s road map. three, combatting veteran homelessness. in 2018 and 2019, there is a drop in the veterans. they have seen a 52% drop in patients receiving opioids since 2012. joining me now is the military editor for the times. these four areas of success in the last three years, how big of an impact have they had in the va? it is a mixed bag. on the health care front there is a lot of work there. there are changes that allows veterans to go into the private sector. they can site a lot of winds on that medical health care side of things. the opioid unis clearly successes they can look at.

to take back our democracy and make it start working for the people again. we have a real chance to do this. michael steele, is the party potentially moving too far to the left with now two more candidates jumping in and talking about medicare for all? i think on the healthcare side there s no doubt the preponderance of evidence says let s go this way, as far as left as we can. you had two of the folks on the stage say, no, not there yet. but that s where the party s going. it will be interesting tonight, mike to your point about joe, how they recalibrate knowing that s probably going to come up. if not the first question, in that first round on healthcare. which seems to be the fault line. a lot of democrats ran on it in 2018 rather successfully. here s the rub. they didn t run necessarily saying i m going to take away your private health insurance. they didn t run saying we re going to liberalize the healthcare marketplace such that
that makes health care more affordable, real relief from the opioid crisis, things that touch them in their daily lives. as i went through that, i saw that the field isn t really that focused on that, and if i don t see a candidate emerging that is going to do that, that s something that i will consider myself. in other words, you are willing to write a check and get involved as a candidate, run for president, if you don t believe someone else is willing to quote/unquote apply a laser focus to the middle class? the middle class needs our attention and our support and our health. america, america is the kind of place where we do big things. we can step out. we can be bold on the health care side. we can be bold on the job training side. i think we need to be training a million people a year. there s that kind of need out there in the united states. i think we need to do bold
