he certainly told that story before but in the context of this debate, if you re advising him, maybe it bears repeating. you know, and you know that story, and i know that story, but i i bet you most americans don t know that story. you know we assume that people pay as much attention to this all as we do campbell, and we also know that s not true. and i think to repeat it, and again to connect his own personal experience, people go, oh no wonder he feels so strongly that people with pre-existing conditions shouldn t be cut off or people who are uninsured should have access to quality care because his own family s gone through it. look, that s not only thing he needs do. he s done a whole lot of other things in this health care process really well. he s so good at making the rational arguments, explaining the complicated situation. but by making that final connection, emotional connection with people, i think he can just get it over the finish line and i think this week, seeing him
now, it s kind of your point. he certainly told that story before but in the context of this debate, if you re advising him, maybe it bears repeating. you know, and you know that story, and i know that story, but i i bet you most americans don t know that story. you know we assume that people pay as much attention to this all as we do campbell, and we also know that s not true. and i think to repeat it, and again to connect his own personal experience, people go, oh no wonder he feels so strongly that people with pre-existing conditions shouldn t be cut off or people who are uninsured should have access to quality care because his own family s gone through it. look, that s not only thing he needs do. he s done a whole lot of other things in this health care process really well. he s so good at making the rational arguments, explaining the complicated situation. but by making that final connection, emotional connection
tomorrow morning the president comes to capitol hill for one last effort to rally the troops? yes. the president wanted to be with us. we want to see him. we want to talk about where we where his views are. obviously he made this a very principled objective in his campaign. he told all americans that this was the policy he was going to pursue if he was elected. he was elected the president of the united states. many of us told our constituents the same thing. and, in fact, john mccain, the republican candidate for president in an october debate with president obama said he as well believed we ought to have an affordable, accessible health care process for all americans. he may differ with the means but he artic you indicated the same goal and that s the goal we re trying to attain and we think we will. the president seems to have his game face on.
can go 99 yards, get up to the 1 yard line and fail on fourth and one, fourth and goal to get a touchdown so that s obviously not unheard of either. let me go through some of the agenda, what we re about to see in the coming minutes. we re told the president will open up this historic session with a statement that will be followed by separate statements from the republican and democratic congressional leaders. there you see john mccain and lamar alexander. they have come the representatives from the house, the senators and the senate, they have been selected by the leadership to attend for their presumably unique perspective, their important roles in this health care process. john king, if you take a look at those who have been invited to this session, eric cantor, the number 2 minimum, the minority whip, it s a pretty i would say on the house side, the democratic side, it s sort of stacked. this is a very liberal conservative contrast when you look at the house delgz.
tough decisions to fix the problem longer term, they won t get elected again, but they want to do good in the near-term. sometimes they do the right thing and sometimes believe it or not, they are in a room with no cameras and with no aides and no blackberrys and yellow legal pad and pizza. this happened with immigration which failed frankly, and happened in the health care process and they get in there senators and congressmen without aides and staff, and think try to come to some common ground and it does happen, but there are not cameras there, and they don t get progress, but they are actually in that room, and there is no pillows. listen, folks. bay, last word to you. i want to go back to the theme basically going through many of these comments from the viewers. that is, let s make it simple, and you know, we are all saying it is so complicated and difficult, and it is not. not in their minds. they are running a household and running businesses and they understand that regulat
