Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 17, with chief ministers of all states to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in the country. PM Modi will also review the ongoing vaccination drive against the coronavirus.
The meeting will be held via videoconferencing, where the Prime Minister will discuss the latest surge in COVID-19 cases in several states. The PM s meeting with CMs will be the first such since India launched the world s largest immunisation drive against the disease on January 16.

A 33-year-old man, admitted at the LNJP hospital, became the first confirmed case of South African COVID-19 variant in Delhi. He was admitted to the hospital about a week ago and has been kept in isolation at a separate unit.
He was asymptomatic initially, but nothing is known about his present condition as of now. He is kept in a very different isolation area and was brought here about a week ago and then tested. He came positive for the South Africa variant, a source told PTI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said it was critical to stop what he called the emerging second peak of Covid with decisive steps including micro-containment zones, increased testing and enforcement of restrictions like masks, at a meeting with Chief Ministers amid a worrying spike in Covid cases in some states.

NEW DELHI: Three new variants of COVID-19, from the UK variant, South Africa and Brazil, have been reported so far in India, Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

New Delhi: A 33-year-old man, currently admitted at LNJP Hospital here, has become the first confirmed case of COVID-19 caused by the South Africa variant of the novel coronavirus in Delhi, sources said on Tuesday.
He was brought to the hospital about a week ago, and has been kept isolated in a separate unit, a source said.
The LNJP Hospital had earlier also admitted people who had been found positive for UK strain of COVID-19, and after their treatment about two such patients had remained till February end, a senior doctor had earlier said.
