How 15 California residents snagged vaccine appointments

California is expanding vaccine eligibility to all residents 16 and over beginning April 15, and hundreds of thousands of people will be scrambling to find appointments.
You may have heard finding an appointment can be tricky. While health care providers, pharmacies and counties are continually opening appointments daily, they go fast.
To help you book an appointment if you re newly eligible, we asked readers to share their experiences with securing slots to provide tips for others navigating a system that is confusing and overwhelming.

High school and junior high students in Healdsburg are back on campus. After more than a year away from in-person classes because of the pandemic, less than 200 students returned to Healdsburg High School yesterday. It is the first of two groups of students who will attend in-person classes twice a week. Students also returned to Healdsburg Junior High yesterday. They are some of the first secondary students in Sonoma County public schools to resume in-person learning.

NORTH BAY, CA A St. Helena resident and instructor at Healdsburg High School, Napa Valley College and Santa Rosa Junior College, is going from the Zoom screen to the TV screen.
Derek Corsino, who teaches Culinary Arts at Healdsburg High through the school s Career Technical Education partnership with SRJC, is one of 11 bakers featured on Season 7 of Food Network s Spring Baking Championship.
The winner will get the $25,000 grand prize, the title of Spring Baking Champion, and a spot in Food Network Magazine.
Liberty High School had a lower graduation rate than Benicia Unified District s overall graduation rate at 93.8 percent, according to the California Department of Education. In comparison, Benicia Unified District had a graduation rate of 96 percent for the 2017-2018 school year. According to CDE data, graduation rates continue to indicate an increase in disproportional academic performance between white, Black, Latino, and English learner students. According to the National Centre for Education Statistics, in the 2017-2018 school year, of the 50 states where data was collected, students with disabilities were at the bottom of 4-year high school graduation rates by student group.
