talking about the indian ocean. just look at this map. if you think of where this eventually goes. the plane turns around, heads west, goes back across malaysia. right. it could be over here. it could be over here. and then you get this widening and then if the plane had continued, then you re out towards the indian ocean. so they will still find it, but i m starting to come to the view of mary schiavo, it s time to let somebody like the united states, the ntsb, the faa, the aaib, the authorities yet where, get ahold of this. you say they will find it. why? why will they find it? what is on board that plane? they keep searching. we keep hearing it didn t have the technology you may assume it did. there are things that break off and float to the surface that will tell where you it is, like a transponding beacon. they keep looking. just by searching. yeah, okay, it s a huge area. it s a huge area. but they know the areas they ve got and contradicting myself here.
to work back into the northern plains. minneapolis only 53 degrees today, but 87 in boise and even seattle should make it back into the mid 70s once again today. then on mother s day that cool air settles in to the northeast. we are going to see temperatures fall back down into the 60s and only 50s in the great lakes. again those showers, though, will be exiting most of the country. betty? that is good news. especially for mother s day. thank you, dylan. in about an hour, 200 miles above us, a spacewalk for the crew of the international space station. two astronauts will spend more than six hours in the vacuum of space to tackle an ammonia leak in the station s cooling system. now, this spacewalk comes just two days after the crew noticed the leak, and nasa officials say planning the repair in such a short window is unprecedented for the agency. good luck to them. the likelihood of jodi arias getting the death penalty. plus, prince harry heads west, and makes a birthday dream come
patti ann: mike, people see this as kind of a unique opportunity, a good time to strike on this issue? reporter: no question about that. post-election the feeling is this is the time to strike. the american public if you look at latest fox news poll , 2/3 support giving a path to citizenship. bottom line, they feel now is the time. here is senator chuck schumer. politics on this issue have been turned upside down. for the first time ever there is more political risk in opposing immigration reform than in supporting it. we believe we have a window of opportunity to act, but we will only succeed if the effort is bipartisan. to make that effort bipartisan you need the enforcement mechanism essentially making sure that the borders are enforced and regulated as opposed to just giving people amnesty. patti ann? patti ann: mike emanuel, live on capitol hill, thanks. jon: so as the president heads west to rally support for immigration reform there
nbc s kristen welker is at the white house and continues to be our guide. the president heads west to nevada, i believe, and colorado. polls show a slight lead for the president. does the campaign feel that the path to the white house now runs through the west? well, look, martin, good afternoon. i think there s no doubt that the obama campaign thinks that these two states are incredibly important. president obama has visited colorado eight times this year, including once when he went in the wake of the aurora shooting. he has visited nevada six times this year so far. the obama campaign has sort of mapped out five different paths to the white house. one of those paths runs right through the west and includes colorado and nevada, so these are critical states. they have set up a big ground game in both of these states. having said that, officials also say that ohio, virginia, and florida are the game over states. so you are seeing sort of a full press effort in those states.
