Tigers Fall 4-0 to No 9 Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. – The Clemson women’s tennis team (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday at the hands of No. 9 Pepperdine by a final score of 4-0. The Tigers will play the loser of this afternoon’s match between Memphis and Columbia tomorrow at 1 p.m. to close out their ITA Kickoff Weekend.  Jenna Thompson and Samantha Buyckx put on a brilliant performance in doubles, winning Court 2 6-1, but it was not enough, as Pepperdine won the other two matches to clinch the doubles point.  In singles play, Sophia Hatton won the first set on Court 5, but the match would not be played to its conclusion. The Waves were able to close out straight-set victories on Courts 1, 2 and 3 to clinch the match, 4-0.  Clemson will return to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. to close out its trip to Malibu against either Memphis or Columbia, pending Saturday afternoon’s result. Tigers Sweep Doubleheader for Second Consecutive Weekend

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Women’s Tennis team (4-0) continued its strong start to the season on Sunday with a doubleheader sweep over Presbyterian College and Wofford on Sunday at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. It marks the second consecutive doubleheader sweep for Clemson, and all four matches thus far were won by a score of 7-0.  “I’m super proud of our team and where the girls are physically and mentally,” said Head Coach Amy Sargeant. “The girls have learned a lot this week and I commend their commitment to trusting the process and challenging themselves to get better.” The team was anchored by a powerful start in doubles, where they took two of three matches from the Blue Hose. Amy Smith Adds Hargrave to Staff

CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson Gymnastics Head Coach Amy Smith has announced the addition of Madison Hargrave to the staff as the Director of Operations. Hargrave comes to Clemson after serving as a personal trainer and volunteer assistant coach at NC State. “Erik and I are so excited to announce the addition of Maddy to our staff in the Director of Operations position,” said Head Coach Amy Smith. “She knows the ins and outs of college gymnastics being a successful former student-athlete at UNC and having been a Volunteer Assistant at NC State. Her attention to detail and her upbeat energy makes her an absolute perfect fit for our staff and this position. Wallin Continues To Lead Seminoles At Regional Championships

No. 16 Florida State finished round two of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional tied with UCLA for first place, after shooting a 2-over par 290. Senior Amelia Williamson and Sophomore Charlotte Heath shot the best rounds for the Florida State team, as both teammates bounced back in round two with even par rounds. UCLA’s Emma Spitz is currently leading the field at 4-under par, with Florida States’ Beatrice Wallin trailing by two. Wallin had a phenomenal front-nine, starting off strong with back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3, followed by a hole out from the fairway on No. 4 for her second eagle of the tournament. This marks her ninth career eagle. She captured two more birdies on her first nine on No. 6 and 9 to make the turn at 4-under par for the round. The back-nine played rough for the recent graduate, with tough pin locations causing a triple bogey on No. 11, followed by three more bogey’s to close out her back nine with a 5-over par 41. W Golf Tied For 1st At ACC Championship

PAWLEYS ISLAND. (seminoles.com) – Florida State is tied for first in the team standings, while senior Beatrice Wallin and sophomore Alice Hodge in tied for fourth in the individual standings after the first two rounds of the ACC Women’s Golf Championship at the Reserve at Pawleys Island.  The Seminoles moved in a tie with first with Wake Forest as Florida State finished 1 under par on the final hole while the Deacons finished 2 over par on the final hole. Florida State will play in Friday’s final group in the final round of stroke play as it looks to advance to the match play portion of the event for the second consecutive season.  The Seminoles advanced to the final round of match play before falling to Duke in the championship match. Florida State carded team scores of 1 under par 287 in the first round and 7 under par 281 in the second round for a two-round total of 568.  The Seminoles’ score of 281 in the second round tied the program record for the best team round in th
