The City of Fairfield will have several Christmas events this weekend in the downtown area. Chamber Director Libby Lingafelter says the City has rented a portable ice-skating rink, and they expect it to be set up just west of the courthouse on Third Street. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, and children five and under are free. The rink will be open from 5 to 9 tomorrow, from noon to 7 on Saturday for everyone and from 7 to 10 for high school students and above, and from noon to 5 on Sunday. The Illinois Eastern Community College Board of Trustees met Tuesday at Wabash Valley College and approved a resolution for the partial abatement taxes for tax year 2021. County Clerks of the 12 counties in the district will be instructed to abate $250,000 in taxes, and the action will result in a deduction of the tax levy passed in November.
