PESHAWAR: A special committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will probe the failure of the law-enforcement agencies to curtail uninterrupted flow of contraband to the provincial capital from Khyber tribal district and unprecedented surge in the number of addicts across the province.
Fazal Shakoor Khan from the Panel of Chairmen, who presided over the sitting on Monday, directed the special committee comprising both treasury and opposition members to complete inquiry and submit its report to the assembly secretariat within a week.

PESHAWAR: There has been a noticeable change in the air quality in the Hayatabad Industrial Estate as the industries are now complying with environmental regulations, thanks to the KP government timely actions.
A press release said in pursuance of directives by Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz, a meeting was convened recently by the secretary, Forest, Environment, & Wildlife Department (FEWD) KP, in his office.
The FEWD secretary chaired the meeting. Other participants were the Environment Protection Agency director-general, relevant officials, those from Peshawar district administration and Khyber, representatives of the particleboard & steel mill owners, and members of the Sarhad Conservation Network.

Washington [US], January 6 (ANI): The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) has demanded the release of Said Alam Mahsud and other PTM activists who have been detained by Pakistani authorities and withdrawal of all false charges against them.
In order to ensure that their demands are heard, the PTM USA would be holding a demonstration outside the residence of the Pakistani ambassador to the United States on Saturday, January 9 in Washington, DC.
