Petersburg parks and rec survey draws in community suggestions

Petersburg’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board last week reviewed responses to a recent community survey on hours of operation, programs and suggested changes. The department is hoping to seek more public input on a regular basis.
The survey was available on Facebook and by hard copy at the community gym in March. It asked for feedback on hours, trails, playgrounds and improvements people would like to see. Parks and Rec director Stephanie Payne told the board there were not big surprises in the answers.

The board for Petersburg Medical Center Wednesday sought support for pursuing a new hospital facility in a work session with the Petersburg borough assembly. Some on the assembly continue to push back on the high cost of building a new community hospital.
Petersburg reports no active COVID cases

Petersburg is reporting no active COVID-19 cases for the first time in over two months.
The community’s dashboard also shows no cases reported in the past week and a testing positivity rate of zero. The number of active cases dropped to zero on Friday and it’s the first time to hit that mark since February 1
st. It was later in February that cases spread in the community for an outbreak that lasted into March.
Since the start of the pandemic, Petersburg has reported a total of 168 people infected, with 15 of those cases in non-residents. And the bulk of the infections have happened in 2021.
