LANSING Today, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced the citations issued during December to establishments in violation of the public health order put in place to control the spread of COVID-19 and protect public health by establishing restrictions on gatherings, including prohibiting gatherings of patrons in food service establishments.
“I thank the vast majority of restaurant and bar owners for helping us contain the spread of COVID-19 by temporarily closing their indoor service,” said MDHHS Director Robert Gordon. “We continue to see improvements in the numbers, and we know that the public health orders we have put in place are working. I look forward to the day when indoor service can reopen.”

Multiple Michigan agencies are punishing businesses disobeying COVID-19 safety measures, and a few businesses have been fined by multiple places.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan Liquor Control Commission and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration have issued dozens of citations in recent weeks.
MLCC suspends another 8 liquor licenses, including Andiamo Warren
The state of Michigan has suspended the liquor licenses for eight more bars and restaurants in the state for violating the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services emergency order banning indoor dining.
Among the eight businesses is Andiamo Italia s Warren restaurant. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission issued an emergency suspension of its Class C liquor license on Thursday, exactly one week after owners Joe and Rosalie Vicari hosted a Zoom meeting to discuss an initiative calling for a compromise with the state government to reopen indoor dining rooms, which have been ordered closed since Nov. 18.

Since the Dec. 9 extension of a pause halting in-person dining in Michigan, eight businesses have had their liquor licenses suspended including one owned by the restaurateur who at one point pushed for business owners to defy the state order.
On Dec. 10, Michigan Liquor Control Commission officers ordered an emergency suspension of the liquor licenses and permits held by Andiamo Italia at 7096 E. 14 Mile Road in Warren. The restaurant and entertainment venue is owned by Joe Vicari, proprietor of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, which has more than 20 restaurants in its portfolio.

Liquor Licenses and Permits Suspended for an Additional Eight Businesses Across Michigan for Violations of MDHHS Emergency Order
December, 15, 2020 - The Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) has issued emergency suspensions of the liquor licenses and permits for an additional eight businesses across Michigan. The licensees’ multiple violations of the current Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Emergency Order include: allowing non-residential, in-person gatherings; providing in-person dining; failure to require face coverings for staff and patrons; and failure to prohibit patrons from congregating. Since September 2020, the MLCC has suspended liquor licenses of a total of 21 establishments located throughout the state for violations of the emergency and executive orders due to the pandemic.
