Ashir Hassan Kimbrough, 32, of Champlin, was found competent to proceed in the criminal case against him after a June 7 hearing in Kandiyohi County District Court. Court records indicate Kimbrough and his attorney planned on relying on a defense of mental illness or cognitive impairment. Kimbrough was charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a Spicer hotel in February of 2022.
Ashir Hassan Kimbrough, 31, is charged with felony second-degree assault use of a dangerous weapon and two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in an alleged assault last month in Spicer. He was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport one day later.
