You get the point. Wine is incorporated in every dish on nearly every menu at Messina Hof s new Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen, which opened last month at 8921 Harlem Rd. in Richmond. We say nearly every menu because the kids stuff isn t cooked with wine. That wouldn t work. But everything else is. The pan-seared chicken? That s merlot in the demi-glace. The roasted beet salad? That has a sauvignon blanc vinaigrette in it. The cheesy, nutty, and peppery prosciutto and wild mushroom Neapolitan pizza? Its base is apparently ricotta and chardonnay.Â

When Paul V. and Merrill Bonarrigo first opened Messina Hof Wine Cellars in Bryan, Texas in 1977, they had one acre of vineyard planted with 50 different varieties of grapes. Over the years, the winery grew, and couple added two more locations. Messina Hof Hill Country Winery and Manor Haus in Fredericksburg, TX opened in 2011 and the Messina Hof Grapevine Winery in Grapevine, TX followed in 2014. This month, their son, Paul M. Bonarrigo and his wife Karen, launched the Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen in Richmond, TX, just outside of Houston.

The area just got a big wine boost, thanks to the opening of the Messina Hof Winery s new location, Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen at 8921 Harlem Rd in Richmond.
Messina Hof says Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen is the Houston area s largest winery. Based in Harvest Green, a planned farm community established by Johnson Development Corp, it includes a large public tasting room, two private tasting rooms, 83-foot wine bar, barrel room, and wine warehouse, and a full-service restaurant.

Messina Hof has been a groundbreaking Texas winery since Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo actually broke ground in Bryan in the 1970s. And they have done it again with Texas’ first interactive wine labels on a new tier of wines released to help celebrate the COVID-19-delayed launch of Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen, Messina Hof’s farm-to-table spot in the Richmond area that opened for on-site dining recently.
