With travel hard to get over the line during the pandemic, residents of the Russian Urals are now claiming they have their own version of the popular tourist island on their doorstep.

BORIS Johnson has deployed the Royal Navy to protect Jersey from the threat of a French blockade.

The furious spat erupted after the island - which is under Britain s protection - slapped French trawlers with post-Brexit fishing licences requirements.
About 100 French fishing vessels are due to sail to Jersey s port on Thursday as part of a protest against the new rules, the head of fisheries for the Normandy region, Dimitri Rogoff has said.

The royal visited Combermere Barracks in Windsor today, and gave a short speech thanking the soldiers for their efforts.
He said: [I m] Enormously proud of those of you who formed part of the quadrant at my father s funeral recently. If I may say so, a wonderful credit not only to the Royal Welsh Guards but to the household division and all those who were on parade for what you all did.

The Duchess of Cambridge spoke with Harriet Nayiga, the founder of Community Transformation - a charity which aims to bridge the gap between midwives and Ugandan communities.
