From The San Diego Union, Tuesday, May 5, 1981: Sterling Acquires Clippers For #13.5 Million Los Angeles Attorney Plans To Keep Club In San Diego By DAN BERGER, Staff Writer, The San Diego Union Advertisement Irv Levin couldn’t wait until the Washington Monument fell. Donald T. Sterling now owns the san Diego Clippers and says he does not plan to move the franchise. Levin told a news conference yesterday he has agreed to sell the club to Sterling, a Los Angeles attorney. Sterling then said that he and Levin -who long had denied he was trying to sell his National Basketball Association franchise -had discussed the sale for about a year.
