The Supreme Court on Tuesday took exception to the stand of the Uttarakhand government that it cannot stop Dharam Sansad events anticipating that hate speech might be delivered at such gatherings.
The drive, which has raised eyebrows, comes in response to a Hindutva leader's request to prevent non-Hindus from entering and conducting business in the Char Dham region, a popular Hindu pilgrimage site in the state.

On January 12, the Uttarakhand government, Central government and Delhi Police had been ordered by the Supreme Court to reply to a petition on the "Dharma Sansad" or religious assembly hate speech.
