jeffries and six voting present. welcome to fox news live, i m griff jenkins. hello, molly. hello, griff, i m molly line. the new members of the 118th congress were sworn in and now the house is adjourned until monday. the contentious battle for the votes. it carried it the end. at one point it looked like this was not going to a 15th vote. following the 14th vote. congressman mike rogers from alabama had to be physically restrained after attempting to confront representative matt gaetz, but minds did change, a 15th vote was held well after midnight and congressman mccarthy was handed the gavel. the honorable kevin mccarthy of the state of california having received a majority of the votes cast is dually elected speaker of the house of representatives. and now the hard work begins. i may not know all of you, some of you are new, but i hope one thing is clear after this week, i never give up. speaker mccarthy won the majority with just 216 votes. 212 democrats backed
