The emergency radio system lets the 911 call center communicate with police, fire and rescue service and other public safety departments. The new Motorola ASTRO 25 system provides enhanced radio coverage in areas like the Potomac River, the Triadelphia Reservoir and other very rural areas of the county, Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Assistant Chief Michael Baltrotsky explained during a press conference Thursday at the Cabin John Volunteer Fire Station in Potomac. The system doubles the county’s total number of radio sites to 22. The system has been operational since March, according to the county.

Council Members Will Jawando and Sidney Katz were opposed. The zoning text amendment approved Tuesday will allow 5G small cell antennas and equipment in residential areas countywide, with limits on where they may be.

Crutchfield, Cullison, Kramer, Stewart file as District 19 slate

share this District 19 state lawmakers jointly file for re-election as slate Three state delegates and a state senator from Montgomery County filed on Wednesday for re-election in the 19th District. Vaughn Stewart, Bonnie Cullison and Charlotte Crutchfield are running for another term as state delegates, while Ben Kramer is running for another four years in the state Senate. The four lawmakers are running as a slate, which means they are fundraising as a group.  Stewart and Crutchfield were elected in 2018. Cullison was elected to the House in 2010. Kramer served three terms in the House, starting in 2007, before taking a seat in the Senate in 2019.
