Kucheran Lowers FSU Record on Final Night

Atlanta, Ga.  –  On the final night of the Georgia Tech Invite, Nina Kucheran lowered her school record in the 200 breast with at time of 2:08.57 (NCAA B) for silver. In prelims, Kucheran turned in a time of 2:11.36 and was seeded fifth for the final. At night she climbed to second, turning in a new personal best, a mark she set at the 2019 ACC Championships (2:08.78). Pia Murray led off the session by taking bronze in the 200 back, touching at 1:55.73 (NCAA B), which was just off her best (1:55.21). Maddie McDonald followed in seventh at 1:57.39. The Noles had two in the top heat of the 100 free, led by Rebecca Moynihan in sixth at 49.60 and Zsofia Kurdi in seventh (49.72). Kurdi would lead off the 400 free relay with her fastest split, touching at 49.50. Rookie Edith Jernstedt turned in her best at 1:58.26 and Hannah Womer also clocked her career best at 1:58.57. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 15/RV Florida State Swimming and Diving programs will host NR/23 Auburn at the Morcom Aquatics Center on Friday in their first home competition of the 2021-2022 season. The meet will start at 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The meet will follow the 16-event format, featuring 100s and 200s of each stroke in addition to 50 free, 500 free, 1000 free, and 200 IM. The 200 medley relay will start the meet and the 400 free relay will be the final event. Men’s and women’s 1-meter and 3-meter diving will run simultaneously to swimming. Live timing will be available via the meet mobile app. “We’re excited to host a very good Auburn team,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They have a very good and deep team. Noles Win TYR Classic

MIAMI, Fla.  –  The Florida State swimming and diving teams opened the 2021-22 season by winning the TYR Classic at the Biscayne Bay Campus Aquatics Center. Heading into the second and final day of competition, the ladies (217) held a slight edge of the host team, FIU (213) after Friday’s session. With two student-athletes in each race only allowed to score points in their entered heat, the women won seven of the 16 heats in order to take the team title over FIU (408) with a total of 437 points. The men finished the meet with a total of 517.5 points, well ahead of TCU (321) and Pitt (312). “We had an awesome day today,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “The ladies turned a small lead overnight into a huge win. They were outstanding today and dominated the competition.
