On Thursday night, the Hampden Township Planning Commission recommended the final land development plan for Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center – Phase 2A at the Wentworth Corporate Center.
Phase 2A includes a 94,050-square-foot, three-story medical office building, which will be built adjacent to the north side of the hospital building. Construction of the medical office building and the 114,400-square-foot, four level parking garage could begin as early as this fall, officials previously said. Penn State Health announced Wednesday the appointments of two vice presidents.
Dr. Safa Farzin, who joined Penn State Health in 2019 and currently serves as vice president for medical affairs and staff development at Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center, has been promoted to the position of senior vice president for Penn State Health Medical Group, Community Practice Division after a national search, a press release said.

The Hampden Township Board of Commissioners approved the preliminary land development plan on Thursday night for the second phase of Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center at the Wentworth Corporate Center at Good Hope and Wertzville roads, just off of Interstate 81.
The Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center is currently under construction. The first part of the second phase will include a medical office building and a parking garage. The 94,050-square-foot, three-story medical office building will be adjacent to the north side of the hospital building. A number of stores and other businesses are set to open this year.
REI Co-op will open its first store in the midstate in the Silver Creek Plaza in Hampden Township in the fall.
