CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Local rescuers and a Cincinnati veterinarian are warning pet owners to be careful after learning about a disturbing act of animal cruelty in a Fairmount neighborhood.
A cat named Dagger is at the center of the case. Josephine Inman says her sister and her 12-year-old niece are Dagger’s owners.
Inman describes Dagger as an indoor cat but says he recently accidentally slipped out the door of her sister’s home along Everglade Place in Fairmount. When they finally found him hours later, Inman says Dagger was not far from their home, but was barely alive.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for setting a live raccoon on fire.
The raccoon was found in Price Hill on the morning of Jan. 26 barely breathing and suffering in wet, freezing weather.

A veterinarian said the animal had third-degree burns on his face and body that were caused by a human being and determined that euthanasia was the kindest option.

Rescuers believe someone is torturing animals in Price Hill, and they fear it could continue to escalate.

Nature Nurses Wildlife Rescue saves more than 1,000 animals every year, according to the people who run it. The licensed wildlife rehabilitators who are part of the organization rescue the animals, rehab them and then release them back into the wild.
