GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - On March 16, 2020, Tidelands Health diagnosed its first case of COVID-19.
It was a day Tidelands Health Vice President Amy Stevens will never forget.
âEven though we knew it was coming, it was still such a sobering moment,â she said. âIt felt like something shifted. It felt like the beginning of something significant and momentous.â
Over the summer, many seemed to think the virus was losing its grip, which led to packed beaches and as a result, skyrocketing case counts.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - Tidelands Health confirmed its first diagnosed case of COVID-19 on March 16, 2020.
Since then, hundreds of people in the Grand Strand area have died from the virus.
âWe had 771 COVID deaths across the Grand Stand and almost 200 of those [people] were from Tidelands Health,â said Tidelands Health Chief Operating Officer Gayle Resetar.
With over 700 luminaries, Tidelands Health honored their memories Tuesday night at four campuses during the ââLights to Remember, Hope for Tomorrowâ ceremony.
Specific questions Hull needed IPS Superintendent Ron Wilson to answer included the potential overcrowding of classes should Emerson close and the type of hardships the district will consider.
Marhofer questioned the proposed elimination of school of preference, noting it’s a “critical problem” to find daycare. Marhofer suggested it would be smart to continue with school of preference for another two years.
Hull said he heard comments and concern from the public that IPS board members aren’t considering and haven’t done their research.
Hull asked the Zoom crowd of 133 participants to treat the board members with respect when asking questions and expressing concerns.

The National Aquarium in Napier is championing Seaweek by showing kids they can make a difference to their ocean environment.
Seaweek 2021 s theme is Toi Moana, Toi Tangata – Connecting with our Seas. It officially begins on Saturday.
For this year s Seaweek roadshow the aquarium s education team have been telling the rescue story of a young penguin to highlight the importance of conservation and the roles children can play in helping the natural environment.
