We do have reaction from one member of Laylah Petersens family. The little girls aunt spoke to us about how difficult it was for the family and how relieved this part of the trial is over. Fox6s Myra Sanchick is in the newsroom. Laylahs aunt on her fathers side, tells me she was not at the trial because she did not want to look at carl barrett and did not want to relive the day her niece was shot. However, Catherine Petersen says the family is helping each other through this time. It would hav september 23rd. The aunt says she keeps a picture of laylah in her car wherever she goes. Now there is some justice. It feels like a weight is lifted but at the same time its still very heavy in your heart. Its so many mixed emotions going on at once, youre happy, youre sad its a big ball of emotion for all of Catherine Petersen is laylahs paternal aunt.
