The civic body of Ludhiana has finally begun the installation of sensor-based traffic lights at major junctions of the city. The adaptive traffic control system will detect the volume of traffic at the junction and accordingly adjust the timer to ensure smooth movement of vehicles. The new system aims to provide relief from traffic congestion and reduce air pollution.
A splash of colour demarcating walking space and the actual road space will now adorn the thoroughfares of Guwahati, facilitating the smooth flow of traffic and pedestrians. The busy Ganeshguri junction has been transformed under the tactical urbanism model, using simple materials such as pots and paints.
