SUV recovered, driver cooperating in Monday hit run

The Daily Reporter Michigan State Police have recovered the SUV that hit three children in Sherwood Township Monday, and found its driver.  Landen Risner, 13, was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he remains in critical condition.   The driver, a 42-year-old Sturgis man, is cooperating with the investigation. He had not been arrested as of Wednesday, as investigators continued to put together the case of leaving the scene of a serious injury accident.  Officers said he admitted driving the silver grey 2005 Chevrolet Equinox tracked Tuesday to a home on Hackman Road near M-66 north of Sturgis.  A tip came from a resident about where to find the vehicle, about 11 miles from the scene of the hit-and-run. 

Go Fund Me page raises over $36,000 for injured Risner children

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Apr 8, 2021 7:22 AM SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Go Fund Me page has raised over $36,000 which will be used to help pay the medical expenses for two Sherwood Township youngsters who were badly injured when they were struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon near their home while riding their bikes. According to the Go Fund Me post entitled “Risner Clan Will Find A Way”, it’s hoped $50,000 can be raised. Over $10,000 was raised in the first five hours after the page was created on Tuesday. 13-year-old Landen Risner is at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo with a severe brain injury. As of two days ago, he was sedated and on a ventilator.
