Tannery Road in Pulikeshi Nagar ward has been in a pathetic state for years, and now the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) patchwork has only added to the woes of commuters. The patchwork has left the road uneven, and BBMP officials are not applying a fresh asphalt layer.
Approximately four years ago, the retaining wall of the storm water drain near Moore Road was broken for desilting. Following the tear-down, the spot became an easy target for garbage dumpers. Residents report that commercial establishments persist in dumping their waste near the broken wall. As the waste piles up, it gets pushed into the drain. Some culprits even directly dump waste into the drain, further contaminating the water.
A two-wheeler rider fell from his vehicle while negotiating potholes at the Tannery Road Junction a few days ago. The rider was admitted to a hospital for treatment of the injuries sustained thereafter.
