Dr Randeep Guleria, the former AIIMS-Delhi Director said the H3N2 influenza virus spreads through droplets and advised people to wear masks in crowded places.
The number of cases of the Influenza A virus subtype H3N2 flu is on the rise across Delhi, Mumbai, and other Indian cities, with a large crowd of people experiencing Covid-like symptoms.
Dr Guleria also said that this virus changes slightly every year, so the virus which is H3N2, comes from the family of influenza viruses and influenza viruses, based upon its various subtypes, and it mutates or it changes slightly every year in what is known as antigenic drift.
The H3N2 subtype of the Influenza A virus has taken over the country with many cities like Delhi and Mumbai showing an increased number of cases in the past week.
